It's Time To Get Up

This morning I'm in Detroit MI for the purpose of attending a Roots and Wings conference sponsored by the Reclaiming Youth Network.

I'm awake early. I woke up with a lot on my mind. The political season is heavily upon us. The United States economy is in a shambles and the nation is nearing a serious day of reckoning.

I'm thinking about Barack Obama.
I'm thinking about Chicago.
Illinois.
Land of Lincoln.
The Great Lakes.
The Upper Midwest.
Rust Belt.
Northern States.
Blue America.

We've had enough of the Mess from Texas.

I don't think the Arizona Retirement Community option is what this country needs to be turning to at this time.

It's time to put the US of A on the broad shoulders of the Windy City. Time to tighten up the bread basket. Time to get back to the guts and grit and grim determination that gave our nation heft and balance and flat-out production. The Sun Belt is nice, and we all love Cali and the Coasts. But this seems to be the time for the industrial core of our nation to reassert itself as the engine that's going to push us forward into the 21st century - smarter, cleaner and tightly focused. That's what I'm feeling this morning.
