Wow what a gap in time. I skipped over the MLB playoffs entirely, now the Marlins (who eliminated the Giants in the first round) are the champs of baseball, and so much has happened since I last entered anything into my blog.

Here's a quick rundown!

Julie had her appendix removed last night! She's at home now, feeling a bit feverish and sore, of course. Resting upstairs in bed, naturally.

I saw the band Spiritualized live in Grand Rapids this past Sunday. It was a tremendous show, very cool, powerful, emotional music, with a stunning light show as well, though it was mostly just simple strobes and colors. Beautiful, all-encompassing impact. Left me feeling breathless and exhilirated. Now I've been listening to their music all week, wishing I could see them again sometime soon.

I'm reading Dudley Young's Origins of the Sacred which is an impressive and thought-provoking book. He provides so many intriguing insights into human behavior regarding sexuality, aggression and religion - it's a shame the book is out of print or I'd recommend it enthusiastically. I feel a desire to summarize some of his points and make them available to others somehow but I'm so busy and really not so interested in hanging out on the Internet as much as I have over the past few years.

Work has gone through numerous ups and downs, but right now, I'm more up than down. Our team is solid and full of talented, motivated, capable people. It feels like our work is yielding positive results despite many hefty challenges and difficult transitions that the agency is going through.

My kids are doing well, showing all kinds of signs of independence. My oldest three are each at different Halloween parties, and my youngest has a friend over here - they are watching our DVD of EEGAH! The Name Written In Blood... which you simply MUST check out if you haven't seen it before. It is classic!
